If you are a sneakerhead, it is most likely that you have heard of Jordans. Today, the Jordan brand is one of the most successful shoe lines. As sneaker culture grows into a multibillion-dollar global phenomenon, it's worth reflecting on how a relatively simple sneaker made of red, white, and black leather influenced everything from basketball to fashion and modern-day marketing.

The Jordan line was launched in 1984 when the famous basketball player Michael Jordan decided to partner up with Nike after Converse, who was at the time the number one producer of basketball sneakers, failed to meet his demands. At first, Jordan had no interest in Nike as it was still a relatively small brand; but Nike had big plans to set him apart from the league's stars not only thanks to his skills but also with his sneakers. Michael Jordan initially flagged that he preferred Adidas because the sneakers were lower to the ground, but Nike insisted on presenting a brand-new sneaker that was exclusively designed for him. The Nike deal got signed and the shoes went into development, soon to be named Air Jordan.

Compared to other sneakers, Jordan’s have become exceptionally popular, and people are getting more satisfied buying them. Today, the authenticity of the shoe line has played an important role and Jordans are now classified as the must-have sneakers.

Jordan’s popularity is due to a certain level of uniqueness, which cannot be compared to other footwear of the same type. The materials used to manufacture these shoes are particularly high-quality materials, which explains their high pricing strategy. Thanks to using these materials, many consumers gain a sense of durability when selecting the pair; especially that the shoes come in different colors and styles, allowing them to select the best Jordan sneakers according to their preference. Some people enjoy wearing sneakers, however, based on experiencing foot pain from other brands, consumers now choose to buy Jordans for their sense of comfort.

The collaboration between Michael Jordan and Nike is now iconic and has revolutionized the industry. The Air Jordan brand now has over 32 different shoe models, several of which have been released multiple times over the years. The shoes typically sell out as soon as they become available and are resold online to the sneaker’s aficionados. Even pairs of Air Jordans that Michael Jordan wore during games have been sold at auctions or were donated to organizations. Even though Michael Jordan has retired, he is still in charge of the selection and design process of the shoes.

They were advertising the products through television commercials, billboards, social media outlets, and google ads, which increased the popularity of Air Jordans. The fame of Jordans is undeniable. With new sneakers constantly being released, keeping up with the hottest and latest Jordan shoe release dates can be hectic even for sneakerheads. That’s where comes the reseller market!

Bottom line

The bottom line is that Jordan is one of the most important and significant brands in the sneaker world. It is known for its exceptional performance, innovation, originality, and style. However, Jordans’ popularity is attributed to Michael Jordan’s status that is associated with wearing the sneakers and has given Jordan a very strong brand identity. Air Jordan became a status symbol for Nike, which meant that owning Jordan's shoe collection is a huge deal in a social group.
